Nikki Miller

Nikki joined Narrow Quay Consulting in 2023 and provides finance and compliance support to schools and charities, including investigations. She also acts as a Schools Adviser for VWV and supports their legal and consultancy services for schools. As part of the regulatory compliance team she uses her hands-on experience as an ISI inspector to provide practical, school focused advice.

As COO and Clerk to the Governors of Taunton School, an HMC co-educational day/boarding school with two international schools, Nikki was responsible for day to day operations as well as strategic planning and financing, including estates master planning. With over 600 staff she is experienced in managing a range of HR matters and was early mover on teachers’ pensions and in 2019 worked with VWV to develop the hybrid model. She was a trustee to the school’s closed DB pension scheme and is well placed to support schools in their conversations with staff on pensions.

Previously Nikki was Bursar at Port Regis where she was responsible for all non-teaching elements in a busy boarding Prep School. She draws on this experience to support schools with investigations, staff re-structures, school governance, mentoring and wider school compliance issues such as Health, Safety and security and risk management.

In her early career she was a Financial Analyst for EDS (Defence) (now HP) undertaking financial reporting and revenue recognition under US GAAP. This was on retirement from the British Army as a Major where she served in multiple locations including Germany, Canada, Cyprus and Norway with various regiments including 3 Commando Brigade, 1 RGBW, 9th Signal Regiment, the Joint Helicopter Command and was the RAO at Sandhurst.
