The employment law landscape is changing rapidly, and some of those changes will significantly reduce the time organisations have to assess new recruits, address concerns and make good employment decisions. By 26th November, we will be just over a month away from the new six-month qualifying period taking effect. That puts an increased focus on what happens during those first few months of employment. Are managers clear about expectations? Are they giving meaningful feedback early enough? Are they having difficult conversations when they need to, or allowing issues to drift?
We’ll focus on three practical management capabilities that become even more important when there is less time for issues to drift, and some simple shifts that can make each of them more effective.
We’ll explore what good looks like in practice, the common gaps we see, and what HR can do to strengthen these capabilities across the organisation.
You’ll leave with practical principles and techniques that can help managers set expectations earlier, give better feedback and address issues with greater confidence in the employment landscape ahead.
